gvSIG Workshop during the Conference Advances in Geomatic Research
During the Advances in Geomatic Conference in Makerere University/Kampala/Uganda a gvSIG workshop is offered on the 1th and 2nd August 2011.
English Manual gvSig 1.11
The english Manual is ready for downloading!
FINAL VERSION OF gvSIG 1.11 released
It's available at the Downloads section of the gvSIG website.
The main new features of gvSIG 1.11 are:
- New features sponsored by Landeshauptstadt München, Referat für Gesundheit und Umwelt:
- Add-ons installer (beta).
- NavTable new version.
- gvSIG user manual included (available in the help menu).
- Bugfixes contributed by the developers community.

The philosophy of this project has been from the beginning to seek and secure the cooperation of as many actors as possible, ensuring leverage the knowledge and strengths of each, in an area as complex as the management of local infrastructure. From here we reiterate our commitment to this strategy and the conception of gvSIG-EIEL as a tool shared, collaborative and built throughout the community.

Cartolab developed a tool to plan water proposals in order to solve the water access in a area.

gvSIG 1.9 Portable 2.0 for download
at the unofficial download section from gvsig.org, you can get a new
update of the portable gvSIG version: "gvSIG 1.9 Portable 2.0" [1].
Beside Sextante and Network Extension, this new release includes also
NavTable [2], a gvSIG extension that allows the management of
alphanumeric data in a comfortable way.
The objective of this distribution is, to allow the user running a
fully-functional version of gvSIG 1.9 (including extensions) on a
computer without the necessity of any software installation.

gvSIG Mini development team released the stable version gvSIG Mini for Android 1.0
gvSIG Mini is an open source project (GNU/GPL) to develop a free viewer of free accessable tile-based maps(OpenStreetMap, YahooMpas, etc) for Android and Java mobile phones.

Migration of gvSIG-tools to OSOR
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport in Valencia/Spain, last week began migration of three of its open source Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications and projects to the European Union's Open Source Observatory and Repository (OSOR).
The three most popular projects that are hosted on OSOR itself are Sextante, geospatial analysis software, Wollmux, which add office template functionality to OpenOffice and GvSig, software to manage, analyse and use geographic information.
